Our History

A timeless haven designed for retirees aged 50 and above.

In 2018 Dunford Properties (developer) bought the property with the vision of building an over 50 years lifestyle living estate as Hartbeespoort has limited facilities of this kind. Hartbeespoort has great weather and the estate overlooks the Magalies mountains with a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, hence the name Serene.

After 18 months of applications and legislation approvals interrupted by Covid lockdown, building commenced. Serene is built in two phases divided by a three ton bridge going over a dam from phase one to phase two. The estate is lighted by solar. There are two boreholes on the property, one equipped with a pump circulating the water in the dam and will later be used for back-up water for the estate. Serene is a sectional title estate with eight one bedroom units and 42 two bedroom units, the estate is managed by Quarto Management Agency.
